Another Albertsons Trip

Before discounts $72.41  I paid only $19.52,  saved about 70%

So I made another Albertsons run. Taking advantage of their Matching coupons.

• I had a "peelie" coupon for $1.00 off
• Store matched my coupon  Final cost .69 cents 

I also picked up some chicken at the deli, for lunch  $3.00.  

Sugar free altoids on clearance for .99 cents, bought 3 of them.

I think it was a pretty Thirfty Day at Albertsons.

Total was $6.09... here is how I did it.

• I did not use a Albetsons Match because you can't Use a match that will go over the amount of the item.

Last Day to buy Chicken for $1.77

Just wanted to remind you all, today is the last day of Albertsons sale. They have boneless, skinless, chicken breasts on sale for a $1.77 a lb. That is a really good price. I always stock up at this price. I take it home, clean it up ( extra fat, skin, etc.) then I put 2-3 chicken breasts in a freezer bag, then stack it in my freezer. Next time I need chicken I just grab a bag out and I know it is all ready to go.

I learned something new - Thrifty Tip

Did you know Ablertsons will accept Walgreens catalina coupons?

I love it when I learn something new about saving money.  

So I thought I would pass this info on to you.  

 FIRST- a catalina is a coupon that prints out at the register AFTER you have paid. It can be used like cash on your next purchase.  A lot of time you have to buy and certian combo of items in the same transaction.  Or lets say you buy toothpaste at the normal price for $3, but a catalina prints after you pay for $2 off, which makes the toothpaste like paying only $1.  If you are not really into coupons  many people don't use these in time, or they get lost.  The store was able to sell you an item at full price, that looked like a sale price.  I have to admit I have lost a few. So hold on to those catalina...they are money in your pocket.    These sales  are a great way to be THRIFTY.

What I learned yesterday...

I was told by my friend Kim that you can use Walgreens register rewards (catalinas)  at Albertsons, they ring up as a MFR ( manufacturer coupon).  So yesterday when I was shopping at Albertsons I asked the store Manager about it, and he said yes they are happy to except them.  So I was able to use my Walgreens catalina coupons with several great sales at Albertsons and saved alot of money.  I hope this info helps you become A THRIFTY MOM. 

Pizza and Soda THRIFTY deal at Albertsons

You can get 2 pizza's and 2 soda's for $4.29

This week at Albertsons they have a "Super Party Savings" deal.  You buy one pizza for $6.29 and you get another pizza for free + 2 2liter Dr. Peppers for free.  Yes you get all 4 items for $6.29. BUT you can use 2 one dollar off coupons on the pizza, and take an additional $2 dollars off click link here

 to print coupons. Which means you get all four items for $4.29 cents.  Keep reading and I will tell you how I got it for only .29 cents

This week at Walgreens with the Colgate sale I got several $2.00 register rewards or catalina coupons.  Which are the coupons that print at the end of a purchase good for your next shopping trip.  They ring up as a MFR or manufacturer coupon and can be used at Albertsons.  So with this purchase I used $4 in register rewards and, I only had to pay .29 cents + tax  now that is a 

 SUPER THRIFTY DEAL!

Albertsons- Kraft Cheese Sale good till Feb 3rd

Normal price $4.99 a bag, I paid only $1.49 a bag

Here is how I did it-  Albertsons has a coupon on the front of their ad for Kraft Cheese $1.99

This is an in-store coupon and can be "stacked" with a MFR (manufacturer) coupon.

Yes you can use TWO COUPONS on one item.  When I was in the store I noticed a stack of Kraft coupon books,( next to the candy at the front of the store).  I looked inside and noticed a $1 off 2  Kraft cheese products. I grabbed two books so I could use 2 coupons on 4 bags of cheese. This is a photo of the coupons I used.

I went through the line twice, because the in-store coupon has a limit of 4 bags per person

Paid $6.44

Total saved $13.52 about 70% off

Albertsons- Hamburger Helper for .64 cents UPDATE

The companys that offer printale coupons have a limit that they allow to be printed, When there is a great sale, that goes along with a coupons they tend to run out fast.  ALL the coupons from both these links have been printed.  When this happends you will get a message that says 

"there are no prints for this campaign"

The Albertsons ad came out, and on the front page they have an in-store coupon for Betty Crocker Hamburger, Chicken or Tuna Helper for .98 cents.  You can "stack your coupons" and also use a manufacturer coupon along with a store coupon.  You can print a $1 off 3 boxes coupon from this link and this link  If you use both coupons you will only pay .64 cents a box.  They have a limit of 6 boxes per transaction.

Walmart is marking down clearance toys.

I just got a call from my Aunt who lives in Middleton.  She wanted to let me know that when she went to the  Caldwell Walmart today they were taking an additional 50% off the  clearance price.  I was there yesterday they have about 3 rows over in the home and garden section.....all clearance toys.

She also went to  Caldwell Albertsons (next to the rodeo grounds)  and they had Marked the Pillsbury pie crust $3.29 down to $1.00  She also found Glad steam cooking bags on clearance for $1.15  but she used the "peelie" MFR coupons for .60 cents off she paid only .55 cents.

This brings up a great tip, always check the mark down items, and the clearance section.  Most stores let you  use a MFR coupon if the item is on clearance.  This  makes the item  even cheaper, or possibly free.  BUT you have to carry your coupons with you so you can use them on your unexpected finds.  I will  do a later post on my coupon book I carry with me.

My kids were up bright and early this morning, so much for sleeping in on Saturday.  I decided to make the best of it .  We got them all dressed and in the car, and off to Albertsons (with my coupons in hand) we went.  We live really close to 2 Caldwell stores so we went to both of them.  My husband and I both went in and made 2 separate purchases so we could both get a free soda.  Much to our surprise the first store gave us both 2 free sodas each. 

I went ahead and stocked up on great deals from the Albertsons weekly sale.  I spent my 20$ and got the 5$ instant rebate.  SO everything I bought was on sale and I used a coupon on every item too.   

So this is what I got

• 5 Boxes of General Mills Cereal was 4.69 a box, Sale price 1.88  with MFR coupon I paid $1.48 a box
• Large Progresso chicken broth was 2.99, sale price 1.88 with MFR coupon I paid .88 cents
• Box of Betty Crocker Au Gratin potatoes was 2.39, sale price $1.15 with MFR  coupons I paid .80 cents
• 2 packages of fiber one yogurt was 3.39, sale price 1.88 with MFR coupon click here for link     I paid .88 cents for each 6 pack
• 1 4pack of yoplait YO+ yogurt was 2.99, sale price 1.50 with MFR coupon click here for link    I paid .50 cents 
  
• 2- 2 liters of 7UP FREE with coupon from cashier                                                                       

Normal price was $43.18

After sale price, MFR coupons and instant rebates I only Paid $12.50 +tax

This is a great way to show you how to "stack" your coupons.  Every time the store prints its own coupons in an ad, you can also use a Manufacturer or MFR coupon with it!  So you can use 2 coupons on one item.   So for these Carnation Instant breakfasts they were on sale for$ 5.00 a box, but Albertsons has a coupon in their ad for $5.00 off 3 boxes, BUT in the store they have a "blinky" coupon box which has MFR coupons for $1.00 off a box.  So if you buy 3 boxes you can use the in-store coupon and 3 MFR coupons . Which  means you will only pay $2.33 a box

The 2nd Albertsons store we went to only gave us 1 free soda for our purchase but who can complain it's FREE.

All of these items were part of a spend 20$ and get 5$ back instantly sale.  These sales can be tricky because if you don't buy the correct sale items you don't get your instant rebate.  After lots of trial and error these are a few tricks I have learned that really help:

- only buy the items that are part of the promotion

- stack them in groups of $20 in your cart, only buy groups of 20$ to get your full rebate back

- have your coupons out and in order so you don't forget to use them

- tell the cashier up front you are buying the promo items and need to make sure they are the      right products.  I shop at the 2 local Caldwell stores, most the cashiers are happy to make sure    you get the correct items to match up with the sales.

- know what your total should be, so if they ring it up wrong you can get it fixed before you drive    all the way home.

As you read more about me, you will learn that Albertsons is one of my favorite places to save.  If you match your coupons with their sells you can get some GREAT deals.  Now did I really need 8 boxes of granola bars this month..... No, but I will enjoy them for the next few months knowing that I saved a lot my buying them all at once while they where on sale.
